Single Vineyard Barbarescos

Cascina delle Rose's elegant small production single vineyard Barbarescos have captivated us in Colorado! And our visit to this family run organic estate in Rio Sordo showed us how their quest to create the truest examples of Barbaresco has paid off. Winemaker Davide [named best winemaker under 40 in Italy] and his father Italo were busy bottling as the responsibilities never end for this hard-working family. Italo only started bottling under the label 30 years ago at the vineyard his wife Giovanna Rizzolio first established in the 1980s; Giovanna was a true pioneer for women winemakers and continues to watch over production in additionto running a busy b&b at the Cascina. Because of the times we are living in, our visit with brother Riccardo, who runs the estate, was limited to a Giulietta style meeting from the balcony, but Gabriella proved to be an excellent stand in, grazie! Equally impressive as the Barbaresos are the fragrant and feminine Donna Elena Barbera d'Alba and the softer cement tank‐aged "baby Barbaresco" Langhe Nebbiolo.
